Blessed

I know, its completely cliche to count your blessings on a blog but all these extra hormones and the 20 lbs added to my waist, the return of morning sickness, and 4 agonizingly long weeks until we see our baby has put me in the occasional gloomy mood. It has totally taken me by surprise because I'm not a depressed person but given the circumstances I'll cut myself a break.......

After all I am growing the world's cutest baby who has had no complications or problems this whole pregnancy. That in itself is a HUGE blessing to me.

Through generous family, friends, and the IRS (tax return!) we've been able to get all the things and more to make our little girl the most stylish comfortable baby around.

Trevin waits on me hand and foot. He is so willing to do anything and everything for us. Sometimes I have to catch myself and make sure I'm being reasonable because he would do ANYTHING I ask him, including going out and buying me an avocado at 9:30 at night which I may or may not have asked him to do last week. (I really think I'm over the whole guacamole phase now, in case you were wondering)

All three of us our healthy. Trevin never gets sick or anything which is so awesome because I remember the one time he had a cold and I had morning sickness and the two of us combined made the most whiny miserable couple ever. As for me and baby, well see above....no complications means healthy for me, sick is a whole different story but well worth it.

My boss is legit! Here is just a little taste of how things have worked in the office for the last 8 months. This past Friday I went to work and left after an hour because I felt sick. Yesterday morning same story. I was all ready to go to work and started feeling horrible so I called in and told them I would be coming in an hour late. Well I went back to bed and as that hour approached I realized I wouldn't be making it into work so I texted my boss and told him. This morning when I got to work I apologized for missing the last two days and all I got was, "Not a problem, don't worry about it, are you feeling better?"

Okay well I feel all better so I guess I'll skip the mall for another day. If you made it to the end of that you are either

A. family
B. procrastinating doing homework
C. are just a really nice person

Opinions....Let's Hear Them!

So the end is near-ish. The baby is due in about a month so I'm starting to do all those things you do at the end like buying the not so fun stuff (I've gone from buying the most adorable baby clothes to now diaper rash cream), packing a hospital bag, washing clothes, stuff like that. Being a first timer I have NO CLUE what to do....my sister-in-law is probably sick of my millions of questions every day.

It seems like anyone who has ever had a baby or whose aunt's-cousin's-younger brother's-wife had a baby has some kind of opinion on the matter. So anyone with some advice on the most useful and the most useless things you bought for your baby or packed in your hospital bag lets hear it!

Not Worth $14.00

I went to get a haircut today and this is how I felt inside.....

Before you freak out, my hair looks fine, that wasn't the problem. Whenever I get my haircut I always just go to one of those cheap chain places like Great Clips or Super Cuts I'm not too picky and the actual haircut always turns out good. The part I always dread about haircuts is trying to make conversation with the person cutting your hair. When I was younger and richer aka high school, I used to go to the same guy all the time and it was easy to make conversation because we knew each other but now I have to go random. I hate those awkward start up questions and then silence for the next five minutes while you try to think of the next question to ask. Today however I had the completely opposite problem and the awkwardness of haircutting reached an all new height. She never asked me any questions but just started talking. She talked about a really good conference she went to this morning, what she ate for lunch (spent 5 minutes talking about her double chocolate cupcake), how she had a hard time sleeping last night because her apartment was cold, her favorite kind of garments, and how her blind date last weekend was cute. Seriously?! All I could do was smile and nod. It was a good haircut but in the end I feel like I should have been paid for a therapy session instead of paying for the haircut. If only I could teach Trevin to cut my hair.....

Happy St. Jimmer Day!

Yes I stole this expression from Natalie Sterling so I have to give her credit but I thought it was so clever I had to use it, thanks Nat! Anyways I walked into the office on this glorious first day of March Madness and you guess it, not a single person was wearing green. It's St. WHO's day?! Yeah everyone was wearing blue for the BYU game (which although extremely sloppy managed to be a victory). I love March Madness but I seriously think the stress of it might put me into labor. I'm obsessed. I was making final changes to my bracket up until the final minutes before the brackets closed. Good thing I did because as far as I had them going Louisville's loss alone would have put me on bed rest. If only March Madness was a little bit later or I was due a little bit earlier maybe I would have put some money down on some games just to get my nerves up a little and maybe send me into labor BUT she is still madly trying to pack on the pounds and grow those lungs. I better try some yoga or those breathing techniques we learned in our birthing class to keep her in there a little bit longer. Oh well regardless, happy March Madness/ St. Jimmer day, sorry Patrick whoever you are, you got out-ranked this year.

On a side note because he is a stud, Trev is doing the dishes right now while I sit on the couch with my feet kicked up blogging and watching basketball, what a nice boy! LOVE HIM!

We Don't Need No Carmelo

For Christmas Trevin's parents gave us tickets to the Jazz vs Nuggets game that was a few weeks ago...I know this blog is a little bit late BUT given the Nuggets record since trading Melo to the Knicks I just had to post on how awesome the Nuggets are. We were so disappointed when we found out a few days before the game that Carmelo and Chauncey had gotten traded and then Deron Williams got traded too. Well because NBA games are still fun we were of course still going to go. Turns out, yup you guessed it, the Jazz are still duds but since the trade the Nuggets have been on fire!! We had so much fun at the game thanks for the tickets Grant and Kay!!

Social Norms

Recently I was trying to think of all the things I would miss about being pregnant since we're coming down to the wire now....6 weeks thank goodness! Have you ever noticed there are some things that pregos can totally get away with but if you weren't pregnant and tried to do that, well you still can its just not cool? Yeah I think I'm gonna miss those things....

  • Eating three dinners, one of which is at 11:00 at night....seriously this baby is ridiculous, even with her 11:00 pm meal by 3 a.m. I already starving again! If I weren't pregnant I think I would have serious metabolism issues or a tape worm
  • Balancing a cup on your belly: I'm still trying to master this one but I don't think Trev would be proud if that was a talent I was trying to pick up when not pregnant, I think he would tell me to hit the gym instead
  • Gaining weight: only when you're pregnant can you gain 10 pounds and people are proud of you for it
  • Sweatpants: yes when you're pregnant it is socially acceptable to wear sweatpants anywhere except church. And if anyone gives me a weird look for it I just stare them down with the "my water could break all over your shoes at any moment" look. That will teach them to criticize a prego's attire.
  • Ice cream and cheetos: a perfectly acceptable dinner, anything you can keep down is better than nothing, at least that's what I was told :)
  • Cravings: yeah we all have them even when we aren't pregnant but only during those 9 months can I NEED cheetos and Trevin will go to the store at 11:00 pm to get them. The rest of the time its called learning self control I guess.
  • The gym? Well you don't really have to go at all and still be considered a champ but if you do go and walk on the treadmill at 2.5 speed people still think you are awesome. Any other time you consider walking a mile at a 25 minute pace a workout you get laughed at.
Oh boy well as much fun as the last 8-ish months have been breaking all the rules I'm excited to be done and have a cute little girl instead!

Supersize Me

Its amazing what your body can do in 16 weeks....with the help of a few trips to Wendy's of course. Here is my 16 week picture. I remember feeling HUGE when I took it, little did I know how big your body can physically yet. I wont lie its a little traumatic to see your body change that much but I'm more than sure its all worth it in the end.

16 weeks

33 weeks

I'm sure I'm not even done close to growing either. With 7-ish weeks left I'm sure my body will pull off some more miraculous growth.

Keeping Sane

Lately the days seem like weeks and weeks feel like months and the past 7 months have felt like at least 5 years. My extremely wise sister-in-law (yup I'm sucking up Ashley!) is always having countdowns to make time go by faster. I'm going to try this method. Ready, set, go!

  • 4 days until I go to the doctor again so they can...take my blood pressure only to look at me weird because its so low, check my weight and make fun of the lack of weight I've been gaining, and I get to hear my cute little girl's heartbeat
  • 6 days until the Mountain West Conference tournament starts where either I can watch a repeat of the nightmare last night or maybe Jimmer can bust out a new career high...50 points?!
  • 10 days....anyone else super pumped for selection Sunday!!! I love March Madness. It was kind of freshing last night to get a break from labor dreams and have a basketball one instead, except I think it would have been classified as a nightmare, even compared to dreams about being in labor. Davies was running up and down the court but wouldn't shoot the ball in BYU's hoop....weird
  • 12 days till the first round of the NCAA tourney. Ok no more basketball countdowns because as much as I love my Cougs if they fall I can't let it ruin my countdown
  • 23 days until my baby shower. Don't worry if you haven't gotten your invite yet my sister is still working on them. But really, mark your calendars. Party of the century.
  • 28 days.....36 weeks holla!
  • 29 days till General Conference/weekend in Logan/baby shower with the family!
  • 43 days till my last day of work before I get a real grown-up job...aka mommy. Since singing songs, playing peek-a-boo, and skipping showers is WAY more grown-up than working at a brokerage firm.
  • At this point my countdown becomes a little fuzzy because if I have it my way our baby will come April 15th (43 days). How cool would that be to be born on tax day....especially if your mom graduated in accounting, don't be too jealous.
  • 50 days until I my parents come visit and get to watch me waddle at graduation. I know people usually say walk but since waddling has become my new mode of transportation I have no other option.
  • 56 days until our little girl is due. Not that that really means anything considering she is going to come whenever she feels like it
  • 63 days. 63 is a glorious number because on this day not only will Trevin and I be celebrating Mexican Independence at Taco Bell but we will be guaranteed to have a little baby and I will not be pregnant anymore.
Oh boy 63 days....I think the countdown might have made it all seems a little bit longer but I'm trying to keep sane for the next 8 weeks....one day at a time. Or one cheeto at a time, that always helps.

Couch Potato's Dream

Seriously?! Who wouldn't want their fridge next to their TV in the living room. Its definitely a lot closer than having to go all the way to the kitchen when you want something to eat while watching TV. This is the ideal set up for March Madness. BUT in all reality Trevin and I are not THAT lazy that we decided to move the fridge and the stove into the living room. Our kitchen is getting a face lift....

A few weeks ago Trevin noticed a small hill starting to form in the tile around the dishwasher. We called the rental company and let them know about it hoping to save them from some big fiasco down the road. Well no one came until our small hill turned into Mt Everest and there was a couple inches of water pooled on our kitchen floor. Apparently the dishwasher was leaking and they would need to replace it and the floor. So they came today and did this to our kitchen...

And said they would come back in a day or two to fix everything up. Lets hope its a day not two but I'm being optimistic. If anyone wants to come watch the BYU game tonight our fridge is right next to the TV in case you get hungry and don't want to miss Jimmer hit a three or New Mexico throw down a few dunks because we don't have a big man anymore....
